Nick grew up in Vancouver, WA and has had a club in his hands since the age of three. He played his first 18 holes for his 8th birthday and never looked back, embracing the game of golf and everything that came with it. He competed at Skyview High School where his team won league and districts four years in a row, with Nick leading the league with the lowest scoring average his senior year. After high school, Nick studied English at University of Idaho, and also spent some time in Austin, TX before finally moving back to Seattle in 2016 and starting his career in Golf at Jackson Park. The last 5 years, he has had the privilege of working at Overlake Golf & Country Club under Mark Sursely, where he was able to hone his craft through leading the junior golf programs, creating/instructing adult clinics, and teaching over 500 individual lessons in 2025.
Nick's teaching philosophy is that there isn't just one way to swing the club, and that everyone learns independently and at a different pace. He models his teaching style from leaders in the industry like Mark Blackburn, Parker McLachlin, Dan Grieves, and Pete Cowen, with the goal being to always be able to get better through his peers and continuing education. Nick's goal as the Director of Instruction at Fircrest is to implement multiple new programs for all ages, give excellent private instruction, prescribe practice/drills to make learning fun, utilize golf technology efficiently, and to reinforce the programs that are already well established and thriving such as Operation 36. Nick is Trackman certified, Speed Sticks certified, an accomplished club fitter, and still loves playing the game himself. His playing highlight this year was winning the 2025 Oregon Open with his team, one of the four majors in the PNW PGA Section!
