Kirby Benoit – Director of Instruction at Topgolf Des Moines
Kirby Benoit was born and raised in Des Moines and has spent his life passionate about the game of golf and, even more so, about helping others love it too. His journey began when his Uncle George gifted him his first set of clubs from Guam, sparking a lifelong connection with golf. After playing four years on the Lincoln High Golf Team, Kirby realized that teaching the game was his true calling.
As an instructor, Kirby focuses on personal development, believing that every golfer has a unique swing, mindset, and path to improvement. His teaching fundamentals include building a strong grip, posture, stance, and alignment, along with a clear understanding of swing plane, club path, and impact fundamentals. He incorporates drills and tailored instruction to address each player's needs while emphasizing the mental approach, course management, and proper practice habits to ensure his students continue to grow long after each lesson.
Kirby’s goal is to create an environment where players feel confident, supported, and challenged. He believes that mastering golf fundamentals not only builds consistency and confidence but also helps players reach their full potential with efficiency and purpose.
For Kirby, nothing beats seeing a student’s smile after a great shot or receiving a text about their best round yet. Whether they are aiming to win tournaments, lower their handicap, or simply enjoy the game more, Kirby is dedicated to guiding each player every step of the way.
Off the teeline, Kirby enjoys spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and their children, Cicely and Rome. He loves cooking family dinners, relaxing by the pool, and playing basketball in the driveway with his kids.
Kirby is committed to teaching strong fundamentals and developing every golfer’s game – while ensuring they have fun along the way.
